Alstom completes the largest fleet upgrade in the UK when the last fully restored Pendolino goes back into service

Alstom has successfully finished the largest fleet update in the United Kingdom,
which involved spending £117 million to renovate Avanti West Coast's Class 390 Pendolino trains.
The project, which saw the delivery of 574 restored carriages at a rate of one finished train every two weeks,
came to an end on Monday, June 24, with the departure of the last Pendolino from the Alstom Transport Technology Centre at Widnes.
For nearly 20 years, lines connecting London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, and Edinburgh have been operated by Alstom-built Pendolinos. Following an update, the entire fleet is now in "as new" condition.
