About Me

I have an extensive, theoretical and practical knowledge of different construction disciplines, in both the building and rail industry. I use a focused, forensic engineering approach to establish the mechanisms of structural and mechanical failures, seeking to bring a holistic, creative approach to the necessary solutions, so that all parties’ requirements can be satisfied.
Though officially retired, I am now applying that experience to identify and resolve the issues around overheating metro networks – and London’s Tube Network in particular. This has become progressively more urgent following the 40°C temperatures in summer 2018.
London Underground’s Cooling the Tube Project’s lack of real progress is a matter of deep concern. Since 2017 I have researched and developed a rational hypothesis that has been published in various rail and tunnelling journals both in the UK and abroad.
I am seeking to share this knowledge with engineers and scientists, so that they may peer-review and constructively critique my hypothesis, thus increasing the industry’s scant knowledge in this particular area – for the well-being and safety of metro / railway employees and their passengers.
